Jonathan Houdmont - Executive Officer

Jonathan is the EEF Senior Teaching Fellow in Occupational Health Psychology at the Institute of Work, Health & Organisations (I-WHO), University of Nottingham, UK. He obtained his BSc in Psychology from the University of Leeds followed by a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in Further and Adult Education from the University of Keele prior to undertaking a career teaching psychology in the Further Education sector. After obtaining his MSc in Occupational Health Psychology with Distinction from the University of Nottingham in 2002 he joined the research staff at the Institute of Work, Health and Organisations, where he has remained. Jonathan’s research interests focus on legal and policy issues in organisational health and safety and specifically in relation to work-related stress, risk management for work-related stress, and the discipline of occupational health psychology with particular emphasis on education and training. He also has research interests in passenger stress in public transport provision.

Jonathan was elected Executive Officer of the European Academy in November 2003. In this role he has overseen the development of the Academy into a Registered Charity (under English law) and has co-ordinated the Berlin (2003), Porto (2004) and Dublin (2006) conferences. Jonathan is the primary administrative contact for the Academy, holds responsibility for the website and represents the Academy on various external bodies. With Scott McIntyre he has developed and launched the Academy’s annual book series ‘Occupational Health Psychology: European Perspectives on Research, Practice and Education’ and co-edits the Academy’s series of conference proceedings, Occupational Health Psychology: Key Papers of the European Academy of Occupational Health Psychology.
