Birgit Greiner - Membership Officer

My name is Birgit Greiner. I am working as Senior Lecturer in Epidemiology and Public Health at University College Cork Ireland where I am running an interdisciplinary MSc in Occupational Health. I trained in occupational psychology in Berlin, and in public health and epidemiology in Berkeley. My particular interest is in combining occupational health psychology with epidemiology to provide scientific evidence for the link of psychosocial work characteristics and health. Examples of my work include observational job analysis, stressors in transportation work, work-related alcohol consumption, stress-related hypertension, musculoskeletal injury and smoke-free work policy.

As a membership officer I am keen to be an approachable contact person for all members and for those who consider joining. I will use my position as membership officer to facilitate the flow of information between members and between members and the executive committee and hereby aspire to contribute to a transparent, lively and responsive organisation. Members are invited to contact me with queries, suggestions or feedback and I will respond in a timely fashion. I will maintain the membership data base and hope to create a data base of members’ expertise accessible to members only to facilitate networking. I will also work with the other members of the executive committee to provide an attractive membership package.
